Big Nedved Junior was concerned, though, about how his friends would receive such a cake. He thought he might get teased for not supporting a Premiership club. A public display of support for a lower-league team might look uncool. I explained to him that supporting a small, local club shows more character. He listed intently and said, 'What?!' I gave up and decided he would thank me when he is older.
At the party his friends were impressed by the cake (and not just because it was chocolate on the inside with a liberal helping of icing), but one of them said, 'Hey, you've got a Manchester City cake!'
Big Nedved Junior corrected him. 'No, it's a Bath City cake. They're a non-league team my Dad supports.'
Face saved in front of peers. Job done.
(This cake did not originally have 'BNJ' on it. I photoshopped it so that when he is older Big Nedved Junior can claim it had nothing to do with him)
